Calling all home owners/renters, interior designers, art directors, stylists, set decorators and window dressers! Welcome to my new online interiors shop. If you are looking for a gift or unusual interiors accent piece for your home, interior design scheme or set, White Vintage is a one-stop shop. The stock will be a carefully curated mix of vintage/antique but there will also be a few new pieces too.
What makes a successful decorating scheme?
I have come to the conclusion that at least some of the success of an interior design scheme is in part down to just one or two vintage or antique pieces. They don’t have to cost a fortune, but they do need to possess a bit of soul, texture, great design, history or humour even. Antique, vintage or the humble pre-loved item can often do what no amount of expensive brand-new products aim to. For me, an eclectic layering of history, design and colour is what makes a room really sing. Oh and a library or at least shelves bulging with books! Books on tables, books on footstools …
English decorating with antiques
There is some talk of how the English Decorating look is back and although in many quarters it never went away, I have to agree that there is much to support this view. Really rather fabulous news, as English Decorating relies on some favourite themes of pattern, texture, colour and history!

Styling with antiques
Some actors start with a character’s shoes when trying to get into a part. For me, it is often one prop which can lead the direction for styling for photography or for interior decorating schemes. If it has a strong visual narrative such as this shell scalloped edge table – all the better. I have often used antiques for my work and was once asked by M&S head office to take a group of their home buyers to my favourite antique haunts. The theme for the trip was decorating a ‘Country House’. (More on this in a previous blog post: Styling with Antiques)

Bobbin blog rewind
There is so much design history just waiting to be rediscovered. Bobbin furniture (you may remember the post I wrote in the Autumn on using it to style a room with chalet style chic) is one example of a design which has been long forgotten in the UK but is now emerging as the must have element in a decorating scheme favoured not only by myself but by many interior designers too.
Exciting news is that interior designers Turner Pocock have just announced that they are going to be producing a Jenny Lind range of bobbin beds in the UK. Bobbin fever is growing!
White Vintage interiors shop
Check out two lovely antique and vintage Bobbin corner chairs in the new White Vintage shop as well as some other exciting accessories too. Items will perhaps be suitable as gifts, or for your own home or for styling/interior design projects. If you don’t find what you are looking for in the shop, a professional sourcing service is also available.

Window shopping
Stock will be updated regularly so put your feet up and do drop by the shop for a bit of shopping/propping! With very many thanks, Charis x

What bliss! I love everything on sale but I’ve no room and I’m finally getting two silk prints I’ve had for over 20 years framed so no money either! Will look forward to future WV blogs – your Christmas shop was superb! X
